Days of Creation for Kids

Why Studying the Days of Creation is Important for Kids

Studying the Days of Creation is an important part of a child’s spiritual education. From an early age, it helps them understand the foundation of God’s design and His plan for the world.

If children do not learn who created the world and how the world was created… from the Word, they will learn it from the perspective of the world.

Genesis 1, gives us the order of the days of creation. It is amazing that with His powerful breath, God spoke the world into existence for His glory and for us to enjoy.

What’s interesting to note is the days of creation alternate the beginning and filling. What do we mean by that?

Well, on day 1, God created the heavens and the earth, then on day 3 He fills it.

On day 2, he separated the water and sky, then on day 4 he fills the sky and day 5 He fills it with flying creatures and the waters with fish.

Day 1- Light

Day 2- Separation of waters and sky

Day 3- Land, seed bearing trees, plants and flowers

Day 4- Sun, moon and stars

Day 5- Fish and birds

Day 6- Animals and then Adam and Eve

Day 7- God rested

The Bible is filled with fascinating details we can discover.

Understanding God’s Design

The world however,  is confused where the start of the earth, the sun, moon and stars, the creation of animals and even when life begins.

Do you really want the world to be the source of knowledge for your young hearts and minds? Yeah… that’s a big no!

The Bible is the source for the beginning of time and all that God created. But even more details are given in the how in the books of Genesis, Job, Psalm, Colossians and Hebrews. Throughout the entire Bible you can discover amazing wonders about creation.

Everytime I think about the days of Creation, the old hymn, “How Great Thou Art” comes to mind and as the lyrics state, I stop in awestruck wonder considering all the world thy hands have made. His power throughout the universe is displayed.

Can you hear it too?
